Introduction to The Giver

The Giver takes place in the future, in almost December. Most of the beginning of the book takes place in Jonas’ house an at a place similar to a nursing home where he volunteers. A few parts are at the Auditorium.

Jonas is the main character in The Giver. He struggles with finding out what job he’ll have and with the anxious feeling from waiting for the Ceremony of the 12’s. His father and mother influence him a lot. His father tells stories of when he was young so that Jonas understands that what he is feeling is not wrong. Jonas seems to be a complex character and I can’t wait to get to know him more.
